Netbook or n”Eee”(ope)

Did you ever tried to get Ethernet from one room to the other just to use your laptop on in? No, no problem but that is what I did, but while we were at it my dad found a Netbook.

Asus Eee 1001Ha dad didn’t want it, so I took it. It was in a bad shape, somebody spilled a coke on the poor thing. The netbook ran Windows 7 Starter (cracked) but I didn’t cared but the netbook was unusable cause the keyboard holds shift even if you don’t so even CMD is unusable cause instead of writing “cd..” you write “CD::”.

I thought I will disassemble and clean it dad agreed to help me. So, I took it apart, and cleaned it with water (yes water) we let the pc to dry for two whole days.

And after that I put the netbook back together and what? No post. So, we let it be and tried it another day trough VGA cable on my TV and it posted. I assembled it again and it started working even on the netbook screen.

The plan was to get Windows 10 on this netbook, everybody was like: “That won’t work, you are insane”. I got the OS running but the netbook still has some issues, the netbook powers off at random. Intel Atom and 1Gb of ram runs Windows 10 just fine, windows installer chooses to give me Windows 10 Pro (upgrade from Windows 7 Starter), from Starter to Pro? Not Home? And the Windows 10 activated just fine, I used the free upgrade even it’s after the update should not work but it does thanks Microsoft.

What is this Windows 10 sucker good for? Browsing Net? Netbook? No? I tried to watch YouTube but it ended up Ctrl+Alt+Delete log out. Some webpages work but then the resolution is the problem 1024x600 even some windows setting are going outside the screen, only way to confirm most of the thing you have to Tab until you get to the button and then hit Enter.

I was using EDGE browser just set google as you default search engine, I won’t install google chrome because it need way more Ram, not even Firefox because I don’t like it.

What else can the Netbook do? Watch movies in 720p or lower. I used K-Lite codec pack.

To wrap this, up, I am not the first user of this netbook and I go it in bad state. The Netbook is slow and the HDD is just 160Gb. But the Netbook Works and that counts. If you want to know the specs just go to “My Devices” page.
